It is, therefore, a reflection about the idea of inhabiting, dealing with the issue of housing in the city from a contemporary point of view, by studying and analysing the changes that have produced structural transformations in the population which is considering a new concept of house more according to current circumstances. Circumstances in which, on a daily basis, individuals have to negotiate with others how to share a space in a successful way.

The asset of this site is the important archaeological remains of Calle Marmoles, located in the core of the historical centre, where Hispalis was located. Therefore, this is one of the places humans have inhabited for longer and where more architecture is present.

On the other hand, the historical centre of Seville has seen a high exodus of citizens and the remaining are ageing quickly. Due to the lay of the land, there are not big enough free spaces though there is a wide range of urban spaces, quite deteriorated as they are not inhabited.

Our proposal is to use free spaces as this will reassess public spaces, even if these have to have restricted opening hours. This is an attractive option for young active individuals, able to stop the negative effects of the increase of the ageing population; individuals open to establish businesses there where their professional activities can get carried out.
This is important as it is easier to avoid the creation of small apartments, which in most cases, end up being used as a second residence or bought as an investment.

The great location of the site and its archaeological richness inspires us to make the most of its potential by creating some premises on the ground floor of the properties, perfect for artisans and self-employed workers to set up their businesses but also ideal for other kind of social activities that contribute to the preservation of tradition as well as the preservation of the small businesses located in this area of the city.
